New Challenge Blog-Magical Mondays!

There is a great new challenge blog called Magical Mondays. It runs every fortnight (that is two weeks to American English speaking folks). The challenge blog is aimed at showing cards and projects that carry a magical image, ie Fairies, Angels, Mermaids, Pixies, Dragons, etc. I love dragons so I’ll be participating in this challenge a lot! The first challenge is Glitter. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday #113 and the photo inspiration from Crazy 4 Challenges #47 to come up with this cute birthday card

The image is Birthday Wishes by High Hope Stamps. I used paper from the Little Yellow Bicycle Boardwalk line. I cut the flames out using a flame font I found on dafont.com on my cricut with my sure cuts a lot 2 software. I have tons of glitter in my stash, but I really dread using it due to the mess. One of these days I will get over my fear, just like I will one day get over my fear of sharks swimming in my pool at night. My explanation that a great white can swim through the pipes from the San Francisco Bay and through the house plumbing is VERY reasonable! Yes, I have a glitter cloth that magically picks up glitter and yes, I have all the tools to keep it from spreading everywhere, but I prefer to use a cleaner method. Time to break out my hardly ever used Crystal Stickles! I added crystal stickles to the birthday cake, the dragon’s flames and cut out flames. Speaking of supplies I hardly ever use, one day I will take pictures of all my nicely labeled boxes of supplies and show you my collection.

Lili of the Valley

I received my first group of Lili of the Valley stamps a few weeks ago. They are just so cute! I decided to make my first Lili of the Valley card using the Lili of the Valley Sketch Challenge. This card is for my brothers’ birthday which is in December. My favourite bit about this card, besides the image, is the Leather strap and buckle. You see, in some vintage cars, they use leather and buckles to keep the bonnet (hood) secure to the rest of the car. I thought it was a fitting addition to the vintage style motor car in the image! I added some Tim Holtz metal gears for added charm! This card also fits the Cards for Men challenge #15; Use 1 image, 2 Papers, and three embellishments.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Lili of the Valley Zooming Along, PTI (Papertrey Ink) Sentiment Birthday Basics
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: SU Night of Navy, Gina K Pure Luxury White
Paper: Basic Grey Oliver, SU Chocolate Chip DSP
Accessories: Leather Trim from Michaels, SU Hodge Podge Hardware Ribbon slide, Tim Holtz Metal Gears.

"I can't deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!"

I feel like Sally Fields at the Oscars, "I can't deny the fact that you like me, right now, you like me!" This is how I felt when I received the message that one of my cards made the top three on June’s charm challenges over on Stamp and Create. You can read all about it here. Now I have a fun little banner to post on my blog!

I have been so busy with my Christmas/Holiday cards, that I have been neglecting the normal weekly challenges in which I participate. To avoid total insanity and the need to strangle the ever so cute Popcorn the Bear, I did take a break and create a card for a special purpose. Michelle, one of Stampavie’s Design team members had a horrible accident with one of her donkey’s and needs some special well wishes. Stampavie provided a free digital download for some donations to Michelle’s medical bills. There is a huge card drive also happening on the Spoonful of Sugar Blog. Meljen Designs provided a cute digital download to help sponsor sending tons of cards to Michelle. For my card I used this week’s Sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday #57 and added some stitching for July challenge on Stamp and Create. I am still in charm mode from last month’s challenge so I added a cute heart charm to match the heart patch on the donkey.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Meljen Designs
Ink: Copic Markers
Cardstock: SU Peach Parfait, Real Red, Bo Bunny Yellow
Paper: Bo Bunny Sunkissed, Sunkissed Stripes
Accessories: Red DMC Floss, Ribbon $1 bins at Target, SU Circle punches, Heart Charm from Stamp and Create, Square Nestabilities.

Now I am off to post my card to Michelle! Get Well Soon! I hope you join me in sending or helping with Michelle's well wishes!

Thanks for visiting.

Blog Candy Update

It's time for an update to my Blog Candy. I am up to 18 followers. My goal is to have 37 followers by my birthday that is at the end of July, then I can give my blog candy away! I received another Popcorn the Bear set of Stamps that I already have, so I am adding it to my blog candy. This means, I have TWO sets to give away! Instead of just one lucky recipient, there will be TWO! If you would like a chance to win either of these sets, become a follower and post a comment on the original blog candy post. You can find that post by clicking here. If you are already a follower and have left your comment, you do not have to do anything!

Spread the word, the sooner I reach 37 followers, the sooner I will randomly select the winners!

Thanks for visiting!

I forgot to post this in time for last weeks Sketch Saturday blog. Opps. I have started on my Christmas cards, so my mind have been elsewhere in my card making world!
