I pulled out one of my Stampin' Up Sets for this card. It's been forever since I have used embossing powder. It's one of my favourite card making activities/tools/techniques.

My Weekly Sweet Sketch Wednesday Post

Hi everyone out there in Blog Land. It's time again for my weekly Sweet Sketch Wednesday post.  I made this card for my dad for his birthday which is in June. I love getting birthday cards done early!  (I made his father's day card this week too) When I first saw this Wild Rose Studio Image I HAD to have it. It looks just like my dad. He constantly has his nose in a book, cup of tea in his hand,  occasionally there is a cat on his lap, he wears glasses when he reads and the top of his head is bald!

I used one of the Wags n' Whiskers Digital Fairies, Angelica. The small flowers are Purple Prima Fairytale Roses, the large flower is an Iris Prima -Lilliput Rose. The sentiment is from Whimsy  Treasured Moments Ticket Sentiments and was cut out using the Whimsy Ticket Die. I also used the Tim Holtz On the Edge Sizzix Scrollwork Die. You can find the Star headpin and the Daisy flowers spacers in the embellishments section of the store.

Spotlight Technique

I feel a little bit of Christmas joy every other week when I get to make my ABC Christmas Challenge card. We are up to the letter H. H is for Hotspot or spotlight technique. I decided to have 2 spotlights in my image, one for each of the two animals! BTW, the image I used is a Penny Black from a set I purchased with a Simon Say Stamp Gift Certificate gift certificate I won in a previous ABC Christmas Challenge. Grand Prize Winner Sweet Sketch Wednesday

One of my favourite challenge blogs is Sweet Sketch Wednesday. Each week Arlana brings us such incredible sketches. The design team members are fabulous and leave such wonderful comments on my blog. I am excited to tell you that last week I won the Grand Prize! You can see my card here.

This week I have another cutie to show you. My dad and brother see all of my creations. My brother, a motorsport freelance photographer, is convinced that some of the car creations could be sold to car enthusiats. It was suggested by some of his collegues that if I frame them, they could be sold as little works of art instead of as cards. I have been trying out different frames to see what would look the best. I settled on a frame from my local craft supply store Michaels that is very close to the look I want to achieve. I am going to use the same vendor that my brother uses to frame some of his real car photographs. They are higher quality and made in America.

Please excuse the bits in the frame (I didnt clean the frame before I framed it). And I noticed the ribbon bunched up on the right side. Things I'm not used to since I don't work with frames much.

I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday, but I flipped it, moved the "flower" to the left side and added a sentiment. The black is the outer part of the frame.
