High Hopes Challenge!

Happy Tuesday Blog Land! I have some exciting news to share. I have been asked to be a guest on the High Hopes Diva Design Team for September, October and November.

Got Pink?

This weeks challenge for High Hopes (#83) is to use your favourite embellishment. Do you remember that feeling of when you learned how to ride a bike, you got that excited thinking about it and couldn't wait to do it again? Right now, that is the feeling when I think about charms! Of course my charm would feel lonely by itself, so it got some friends...some of my other warm feeling favourites;  felt flowers and homemade brads made with my i-Top brad maker. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday #114.  Lastly, 7 KidsCollegeFund is starting a new challenge blog. It's another every 2 week challenge blog. I love these, it gives one time to think about the challenge. The theme of the first challenge is pink and polka dots.

High Hope Challenge

This week's High Hopes Challenge is being hosted by Sirpa. Her challenge this week is to create a baby card or a card for a young child. I thought I had this stamp in my collection, but alas I didn't. I placed an urgent order with Lacey over at Stamp and Create. She was terrific and shipped my order on Monday, and it arrived on Wednesday. Phewww, enough time for me to stamp, colour, and make my card.

The paper is from Martha Stewart Baby Boy mini paper pad I got from Michaels. I also got myself an i-top Tool by Imaginisce. Ahhhh, I love making embellishments that match the card. I used three different papers. I used one with stars to match the stamp, a polka dot design and then a piece with cute elephant and button circles. I used the small i-top paper puncher, punched some of button circles and made them brads! I nestled the brads into photo corner pieces I made with a Stampin' Up punch. The ribbon is my wonder find from Target. You cant really see it in my photo, but I used white DMC floss and attached a baby footprints charm that Lacey included with my order! (Thanks Lacey)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Hopes Bedtime Bear, Greeting: Papertrey Ink
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Card Stock: Stampin Up Sage Shadow, Barely Banana
Paper: Martha Stewart Baby Boy
Accessories: i-Top Tool, i-top small paper punch, small i-top brads, Stampin Up photo corner punch, small oval punch, large oval punch, scallop oval punch, Ribbon-Target, baby footprints charm-stamp and create

High Hopes- Flag of your Home Country

Disclaimers, mainly to placate my brother's sarcastic comments, even though I know he doesnt visit my blog. But I felt I should add them who would agree with his annoying opinions :-) "YES I KNOW THAT PIECE IS CROOKED, THERE IS NO REASON TO POINT IT OUT, THAT IS NOT CAT HAIR STUCK ON MY CARD, THAT IS A FUR COVERED EMBELLISHMENT...."You get the idea.

* I know this is not the Union Jack. I did use similar shapes and colours that one would find on a Union Jack. Therefore, this is an artistic representation of the flag.

* I coloured my dragon yellow because I wanted contrasting/complimentary colours on my image to the paper colours.

* Roses, usually white or red are sometime used in insignia for various English sport teams, clubs, groups. I thought roses would make a nice embellishment on my card. In addition to the red roses, I added yellow to match the dragon.

This week's High Hope Challenge is to create a card or paper project using colour inspiration from my Home Country Flag. As you can hopefully guess, my home country flag is the Union Jack. I am 100% British, except for my accent. I'm a mutt when it comes to my accent. Part English, Californian, Maryland, New York, Virginia, North Carolina. I have lived a lot of places. But I digress. Here is my home country flag inspired creation. I wanted a more rustic look to the card so I misted all of the cardstock and paper with water, crumpled them up, flattened them, then dryed them with my heat gun.

Also before I get to the card and the supplies, for those of you who love High Hope Stamps, Check out a REALLY cute card I made last week for the Friday Sketcher challenge here.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Hopes Sir Dustin
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Cardstock: SU Brilliant Blue, Whisper White
Paper: SU Real Red Designer Series Paper
Accessories: White Ribbon-Target, SU Red Ribbon, Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder, The art of Life mini roses
